Nesting Grounds
From May through October, Florida’s beaches become the primary nesting grounds for the majority of sea turtles. Turtles will return to the beach where they hatched to lay their own eggs. New hatchlings will emerge from their nests at night and follow the moonlight to the ocean. Thick stands of Sea Grape and other beach foliage help to prevent city lights from disorienting the baby turtles.
